    • Old Ponte Vedra Beach- Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

One of the most desirable addresses in Northeast Florida lie in Old Ponte Vedra Beach.  This area exudes luxury along the scenic Ponte Vedra Boulevard and throughout the tranquil residential areas surrounding the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club.  Geographically, Old Ponte Vedra Beach’s general borders include Duval County on the north, route A1A on the west, Corona Road on the South, and the Atlantic Ocean on the East.

Old Ponte Vedra Beach’s history dates back to the 1914 as a mining town, before road construction enabled the building of oceanfront summer homes along the Atlantic dunes.  The area’s additional properties, arranged around golf courses, lagoons and lakes, create a feeling of openness while winding through the quiet streets.  Building and rebuilding during the past several decades has resulted in an eclectic mix of the original architecture interspersed with modern, expansive, multi-story estates.  .

Several area clubs enhance the beach lifestyle.  Most notably, the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club offers 36 holes of oceanfront golf, world-class tennis with 15 Har-Tru tennis courts, a full-service spa, shopping, four  restaurants, four heated swimming pools, and – of course – an expansive beach.  The club also provides events and social activities such as a bridge club, sailing, exercise classes and children’s activities.  Membership is not required and is open to everyone, attracting people from Old Ponte Vedra Beach and surrounding areas.

Part of the attraction to living in the Old Ponte Vedra is the restriction of parking along Ponte Vedra Blvd for the public to access the beaches. From 311 & 313 Ponte Vedra Blvd to 557 & 559 there are approximately 15 county maintained beach access points conducive to those who live in the area and who can walk or bike ride to the beach. There are 4 access points with bike racks.  Private Parking is available for the various Beach Clubs. Public Parking is at Mickler’s Beach Front Park where Horseback riding is permitted year round with special beach use permit.

Median home prices in Old Ponte Vedra Beach ranged from $775,000 to over $1 million in 2018, with several homes selling for over $3 million. The highest sale for 2018 was $5,900,000.   Old Ponte Vedra Beach is not a gated community, and there is no homeowners association fee.

However, there is a governing group serving the area called the Municipal Service District. The vision of the MSD is “Protect and enrich the quality of life for our residents by maintaining and enhancing the appeal and status of the MSD as a premier community highly valued by its residents and respected by others.”  They have a board of seven elected trustees from the community. And their Mission is to” Provide services to the public of the district independent of, as well as supplemental to, those provided by St. Johns County and in cooperation with the functions of the county.”  There are five dedicated  Deputy Sheriffs assigned to the MSD and their response time is within 3 minutes of any call.  The Map of the MSD demonstrates the reach of the district is predominantly all of Old Ponte Vedra and South along Ponte Vedra Boulevard to the north end of the Guana State Park.  It does not include Sawgrass Country Club.
